Panama – This country features beautiful lodges build along the coral reef of the country’s coast. The lodges are built of local, sustainable materials like clay, bamboo and wild cane and incorporate renewable energy in the form of solar panels and bio-digesters, which clean waste water. Guests can stay at observatories in rooms at tree-top level where they can bird watch.

Argentina – Argentina, known for its main wine-producing region, also offers a variety of outdoor activities including winter skiing, hiking and horseback riding, abound. The annual Vendimia, or the wine harvest festival that culminates there each spring and features folk festivals, is also a popular tourist attraction and should not be missed.

Sri Lanka – This destination offers Buddhist temples, pristine beaches, emerald hills and rushing waterfalls. It has come in vogue as a honeymoon destination and you can plan your trip around beautiful luxury hotel properties around the southern half of the island.  

Namibia – This African nation is enjoying popularity for its Sossusvlei dunes in the Namib desert, which can now be toured via hot air balloon. You can also sandboard down the dunes at Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. Safari tours are available as well.

Ethiopia – Ethiopia is a relatively pristine area with bird watching in the Rift Valley Lakes, crocodile hunting near the Kenyan border, and trekking in the Simien Mountains National Park.

Honduras – This country is a haven for divers and the area features enormous coral reefs, underwater caves, volcanoes and wrecked ships, plus wildlife like whale sharks and sea horses. Roatan, with its iguana farm and tropical butterfly park, is a popular destination within Honduras.

Laos – Laos contains Southeast Asia's largest waterfall, a bounty of well-preserved temples and monuments and the Mekong River running throughout. Luang Prabang, the country’s former capital, is a great place to stay. It is located at the intersection of the Khan and Mekong rivers. La Résidence Phou Vao, an Orient-Express resort, has views over the surrounding mountains and rivers, plus its own lush gardens and infinity pool.
