Must See Travel Spots In Florida

Find hot spots in Florida for your vacation to the sunshine state!

Florida is one of the most popular destinations for many people, especially during the spring for college students. It’s no wonder! The state has beautiful, white sand beaches, sunny days, and warm water. Students hit the sand in droves during April and March. Listed below are a few popular Florida destinations you can visit.

Daytona Beach

This beach lies on the central East coast and has warm, balmy temperatures. The air and water is on average seventy-five to eighty degrees. This is perfect weather for lying around on the beach or going into the water.

Keep in mind that beach driving is only allowed from one hour after sunrise to one hour before sunset. Turtle nesting season from May to October pushes the morning hour forward to eight A.M. Beach driving conditions may be bad during high tides and may be closed to cars, although the beach is continuously open to pedestrians.

The Florida Keys and Key West

The Florida Keys and Key West are popular attractions for visitors. This area also features open air restaurants with such regional specialties as “she crab soup.” The evenings are very cool and island breezes will keep the temperature comfortable every day. The area also has excellent snorkeling opportunities with plenty of wildlife to view and lots of beautiful, clear water. All kinds of outdoor water sports are available if you’re active, or you could sit back and relax and get a tan on the beach.

The Key West is a very unique, individualistic place and the residents are very independent, calling themselves the “Conch Republic” for the ubiquitous presence of conches in the area. It is a charming, eccentric place with many quirks—tourists might gather during the evening to applaud the sunset. Key West is also gay friendly, an important consideration to make if you are going somewhere exotic for spring break.

Miami and South Beach

South Beach and Miami are also becoming popular destinations within Florida, rivaling other more popular and frequently visited destinations for the ultimate beach hot spot. The South Beach also has a very vibrant club scene and also has many spring break special offers.

Panama City

Panama City Beach has beautiful, blue green water and white sand beaches along the Gulf of Mexico. With temperatures in the seventies, the city is comparatively cooler than other popular beaches and warrants a sweater during the evenings. Some trivia: The beach was actually rated number one in 1995 by a renowned geologist named Dr. Stephen Leatherman. It also took third place in an online survey in Yahoo Travel Top Sands Awards in 2003.
